The NorthCap University (formerly Institute of Technology and Management) is an autonomous university situated in Sector 23-A, Gurgaon, Haryana, India. It was founded in 1996 by Educate India Society, registered under the Registration of Societies Act of 1860 as an Engineering Institute, to provide education in Technical and Management. Formerly it was under Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak.〔(India today, Volume 34, Issues 27-35 ). Thomson Living Media India Ltd., 2009.〕 The Institute gained the status of private university in the Academic Year 2009-10, and was renamed ITM University under section 2(f) of the UGC Act 1956 and ''PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES ACT NO 25 OF 2009'', Government of Haryana. ==The Campus== The University is located in Sector 23-A, Gurgaon, Haryana, which is about 5 km from Indira Gandhi International Airport. The campus is spread over an area of 10 acres of land in urban area. Besides spacious classrooms and Seminar Halls, the University has well equipped laboratories and workshops with the latest equipment and machinery for imparting practical training to its students. The University is equipped with a fully air-conditioned Library and Information Resource Centre (LIRC) with a comprehensive collection of more than 60,000 volumes in all areas of Engineering, Law and Management and over 50,000 eBooks. The LIRC also subscribes to over 100 print journals from reputable publishers. The LIRC has fully computerized its services with the Libsys Software. The existing infrastructure has been further enhanced in January 2014 by the addition of an ultra-modern academic block, which has enhanced the growth potential of the University. With a double basement parking, state of the art classrooms, over 460-seater auditorium, seminar rooms and tutorial rooms the five storied building has enhanced the intake capacity of the University . The University has a fully air-conditioned academic infrastructure with round the clock power backup. Besides the classrooms, tutorial rooms, faculty cabins, seminar hall, conference rooms and a media room, we have 74 well equipped labs and workshops, where you can not only carry out practical training, but also indulge in extensive research. The spacious hi-tech classrooms are equipped with state-of-the-art multi-media teaching aids. A computer centre, with more than 1000 high-end computers and a Virtual Lab has been established.
